What is it?
The Hazlerigg Rutland house system groups a number of students together according to which block they reside in. There are four houses; Block A, Block B, Block C, Block D and Elvyn Block 50. The students within those blocks can earn house points through active participation or personal and team achievement within hall activities. House points are awarded by members of the committee at the weekly meeting. The house points are then transferred into the Hazlerigg Rutland House Table, where the houses are arranged in descending order of total house points. The House Table is updated weekly after the committee meeting on Sunday evenings. Points are awarded according to the following guidelines

House Table
The Hazlerigg Rutland House Table will take the following format:

House Captains
Each house shall elect a house captain. The house captain will have the duty to rally fellow house-members and to encourage participation in Hall events. The house captain must not sit on the committee and will have no committee powers once elected. The house captain must be a Hazlerigg Rutland resident but does not have to be resident in the block to which he/she is campaigning to be house captain. He/She does not require a proposer or to be seconded.

House Captains
Due to the uneven number of residents in each block, house points shall be weighted to reflect their true value in terms of house contribution to hall life. In the example house table below, every house has scored the same number of points across the board. The total number of points per house is then divided by the number of students in that house to give an average of points per house resident. This is then multiplied by 100 to provide a more user-friendly integer. In the example below, house E50 will be the winning house due to the applied weighting.
